Cara Nusinov Leibowitz works as a writer, teacher, craft artist.
History:Writing related efforts include: acting as a facilitator for a Miami
book fair, freelance reporter and poetry columnist for Community Newspapers,
Miami, and participation with the South Florida Writers Conference committee.
During National Poetry Month 2003, Cara was selected to read her poem, "A Slice
of Miami Moon, Miami Sun" on NPR (National Public Radio). Cara's work appears in
Sunscripts and Scattered Seeds and STEP INTO MY METAPHOR. The Hannah Kahn Poetry
Foundation named Cara an emerging poet in Miami. She won the Georgia National
Literary Competition among other awards. Daimler Chrysler's "Spirit in the Word"
chose Cara to participate in their reading, as did The Butterfly Lightning
Literary Reading Series at Tobacco Road, at the Seethe Poetry Series, bookstores
and various other venues.
Presently: Cara is compiling her poetry into book form and completing fiction works and poet paintings utilizing her years of poetry, decoupage and various art mediums. Future ventures include completing certification as a Poetry Therapist and continuation of her freelance work. Her mission as a writer is "to enhance the enjoyment of poetry through the written word, reaching as many people as possible on significant issues both serious and frivolous."
Cara is the proud mother of Joanie Leeds, NYC Children's songwriter and singer, and Jonathan Leibowitz, Environmental Law Student.
